COMPLETE GUIDE TO G. I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO

2005 (Series 21)

Selected Figures from 2005

Overview

While, as always, fans debated the quality of the new Joe releases and often longed for Joe to return to what it was in the 1980s, sales and the number of releases were as strong as ever. Like 1994, the year 2005 began with no signs of the toy line ever slowing down. Yet once again, the creators decided to pursue a different direction. The twelve-inch line was retired after thirteen years, and it was announced that store releases for the 3-3/4-inch figures would be put "on hiatus" indefinitely, beginning in the summer. Meanwhile, Hasbro would experiment with a new, eight-inch Sigma Six line of Joe figures. These toys were released in fall 2005 and promoted with a weekend, animé-style cartoon show. However, unlike the infamous Sgt. Savage and Extreme lines, this one continued the familiar Joe continuity, including characters such as the preteen son of General Hawk. The first wave of figures consisted of Duke, Heavy Duty, Snake Eyes, Spirit, and Storm Shadow. This new line dominated the convention's previews, but most fan attention was focused on the exclusive Iron Grenadiers and Steel Brigade figures available. The convention was held June 23-24.

The "hiatus" announcement was soon retracted, and instead the 3-3/4-inch releases was available on-line, primarily at HasbroToyShop.com, beginning in July. Conventions and additional Toys 'R Us-exclusives would also provide occasional opportunities for more figures and vehicles. The new on-line exclusives included single-packed figures with original character art, as well as figure style and proportion, reminiscent of the old 1982-1994 line. Comic 3-packs and newly molded vehicles were also released through Hasbro's site. Several of the figures represented characters long thought forgotten. The fan reaction was mostly positive; the few criticisms had to do mostly with the reuse of recent figure parts. Hasbro even set up an on-line feature called "Ask Cobra Commander" to allow input from collectors. This site continues to track the 3-3/4-inch line, leaving it to other sites to deal with the Sigma Six series.

2005 Valor vs. Venom Wave 6 Figures

Sergeant BazookaItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
Anti-Armor Missile SpecialistE-5 (Army sergeant)SN: 112-40-DL57
File Name: Sgt. David L. KatzenbogenPrimary MOS: Infantry Heavy Weapons
POB: Hibbing, MNSecondary MOS: QUICK STRIKE Driver
Appearance: short-cut black hair and short moustache; all-green shirt, pants, and belt; yellow vest; brown gloves, shoulder and knee pads; black boots.
Accessories: green helmet (04 Sgt. Bazooka's, with black strap); grey revolver (new); grey spring missile launcher (new, large and bazooka-shaped) with detachable sight; grey missile (new, with medium-sized cylindrical tip).
Filecard Information: A trained tank-driver himself, SGT. BAZOOKA knows exactly what the COBRA armored vehicle drivers are thinking as they maneuver to avoid getting hit by his missiles. He knows the best evasive moves; this helps him to second-guess COBRA vehicles and keep them targeted in his sights. SGT. BAZOOKA knows that having the skill and knowledge to aim and fire his missiles is only half the job; the weapons have to be hand-carried to the firefight and missile systems, even supposedly hand-portable ones, are bulky and heavy. This means extra physical training, a ten-mile run every morning, and a strict schedule of weight training to maintain his strength and stamina at peak levels.
"A wire-guided missile and a night-tracker weigh 46 pounds. A reload weighs 26 pounds. Do I mind having to work out an extra hour a day to stay in shape to carry a reload in case my first shot misses? Negative!"

2. 1988 (Tiger Force)
3. 1993 (Battle Corps)
4. 2004 (Quick Strike)
5. 2005 (Valor vs. Venom)

FrostbiteItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
Arctic Operations SpecialistE-5 (Army sergeant)SN: 215-58-SF36
File Name: Sgt. Farley S. SewardPrimary MOS: Armored Vehicle Driver
POB: Galena, AKSecondary MOS: Vehicle Specialist
Appearance: dark green ski cap with gold goggles; no facial hair; white layered snowsuit with grey vest, white gloves, and blue belt and boots.
Accessories: grey sniper rifle (03 Tunnel Rat's Accuracy Int'l AWS); grey paintball marker (shared with Shipwreck); two white ski-missiles (new, attach to snowboard); black communications gauntlet (common for VvV Joes); white snowboard (new, with swiveling stand and color Joe logo).
Filecard Information: FROSTBITE loves the challenge of surviving and thriving in a harsh arctic environment. There are other G. I. JOE Team members who are better armored vehicle drivers, but few of them could find their way through a blizzard without a GPS, unclog a fuel line in sub-zero temperature, or know instinctively where a crevasse is hidden under snow cover. He doesn't mind the cold; in fact, an icy wind in his face makes him feel more alive. Extreme cold tends to make troops sluggish and careless, but what it does for FROSBITE is exactly the opposite. Any COBRA infiltration team expecting to attack a G. I. JOE base under cover of a blinding snowstorm is in for a nasty surprise, and his name is FROSTBITE.
"Give me black coffee, scalding hot, thick enough to stand a spoon in, then get out of my way."

ShipwreckItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
SailorE-7 (Navy chief petty officer)SN: 924-92-HX56
File Name: CPO Hector X. DelgadoRating: Gunners Mate
POB: Chula Vista, CA
Appearance: brown hair and goatee; dark and light green camo suit with black sleeveless vest and brown straps, black half-gloves, and black boots.
Accessories: green hat (04 Shipwreck's with light green spots); green backpack (04 Shipwreck's); grey assault rifle (03 Sgt. Hacker's); grey paintball gun (shared with Frostbite); black communications gauntlet (common for VvV Joes).
Filecard Information: SHIPWRECK can splice a cable, plot a gunnery solution, navigate through shallow waters, and keep the helm on a steady heading through the eye of a storm in twenty foot seas while eating a runny fried-egg sandwich with mayonnaise on it. A knowledgeabe chief with hands-on experience in most naval vessels up to frigate class, he is a strong hand-to-hand fighter as well. GUNG HO has been heard to remark that SHIPWRECK is the last guy he would want to get into a knife-fight with. This is not to say that he isn't a likeable and sociable individual. On the contrary, he is always the first at the mike on karaoke night, and can perform a number of amusing tricks with his tattoos.
"I've never seen a more useless crew of lubbers as the G. I. JOE team at sea. If it wasn't for a salty dog like me, they'd all get swept overboard at the first squall."

Tunnel RatItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)E-5 (Army sergeant)SN: 367-84-NL90
File Name: Sgt. Nicky LeePrimary MOS: Explosives and Demolitions
POB: Brooklyn, NYSecondary MOS: Combat Engineer
Appearance: black bandana; dark yellow shirt with grey vest and black straps; black gloves; grey belt; black pants with dark yellow stripes; grey kneepads and boots.
Accessories: grey goggles (04 Tunnel Rat's); two grey straps (04 Tunnel Rat's); grey backpack (new) connected by clear tube to heavy assault aqua weapon (new, fat cylinder); grey knife (91 Low-Light's); black communications gauntlet (common for VvV Joes).
Filecard Information: There isn't a mine, booby-trap, or bomb in the world that TUNNEL RAT can't disarm, defuse, or otherwise deactivate in less than thirty seconds. This comes from constant practice on dummy devices, or whatever he can get his hands on that ticks. Once the entire G. I. JOE team missed formation because TUNNEL RAT had deactivated all the alarm clocks. TUNNEL RAT is one of the team who clears the way for the others. A qualified expert with most heavy assault weapons, he is in the forefront of every attack on fortified COBRA positions, and can be counted on to deal with any traps, or other nasty surprises that might brunt the attack.

Wild BillItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
Helicopter PilotCW-4 (Army chief warrant officer)SN: D56-40-BW11
File Name: William S. HardyPrimary MOS: Rotary Wing Aircraft Pilot
POB: Brady, TXSecondary MOS: Fixed Wing Aircraft Pilot
Appearance: light brown hair and beard; sleeveless green vest over white T-shirt; yellow gloves; tan pants with black belt and open green holsters; black shoes.
Accessories: black cowboy hat (04 Wild Bill's); two six-shooter's (04 Wild Bill's Colt Peacemaker); grey machine gun (91 Big Ben's M240); black communications gauntlet (common for VvV Joes).
Filecard Information: Slow-talking and easy-going, WILD BILL doesn't let anything shake him up. In situations where other people might lose it completely, WILD BILL just keeps on doing his job. This doesn't sound like much, but it means a lot to the G. I. JOE team if they are pinned down on a hot landing zone waiting to be picked up. Piloting a helicopter in combat requires a unique combination of skill, stamina, physical coordination, and spatial perception. Helicopter pilots are trained, not born. WILD BILL feels a measure of pride in his hard-won skills, and to him, COBRA COIL CRUSHER is no better than an athlete pumped up with steroids. He knows that anything that isn't earned has no value.
"Any old fool can fly into a hot landing zone. Getting out is the hard part."

Coil CrusherItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
COBRA Silent Infiltrator
Appearance: bald head with large chin and gold goggles; tan shirt under red snakeskin jacket with gold armor on arms; grey gloves; cream belt and straps; tan pants; grey boots with gold kneepads.
Accessories: black snake (04 Coil Crusher's).
Filecard Information: Originally a volunteer from the elite COBRA JUNGLE VIPER troops, COIL CRUSHER is the result of recombined human and snake DNA. He has rudimentary scales, nictitating membranes across his eyes, and venom pouches where his tonsils should be. Incredibly strong, totally fearless, and devoid of human compassion, he is a nearly perfect infiltrator and shock trooper. His main drawback is his tendency to grow sluggish and lethargic in cold weather. COIL CRUSHER can slither silently through tall grass on his belly, or glide across the tops of tree branches to drop suddenly on an unsuspecting point man. Few can withstand the bone-crushing strength of his long, sinuous arms when he wraps them around his victim and squeezes. None can ward off the terrible effects of the venom he sprays in the faces of his victims.
"You will never see me, you will never hear me, you will never sense my presence until I have already crushed the air from your lungs."
Versions: 1. 2004 (VvV Wave 3) 2. 2005 (VvV Wave 6)
Variations: None.
Mold:
head, arms, and torso—Coil Crusher (04, 05)
waist and legs—Coil Crusher (04, 05), Jungle Viper (05/I, 05/II)
Toy notes: Available in a 2-pack with Wild Bill. Coil Crusher does not have elbows but instead is flexible along the full length of his arms.

Electric EELItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
COBRA V-Troops Underwater SpecialistPrimary MOS: Bio-Electric Sabotage
Appearance: grey diving mask with black airtubes and silver COBRA emblem;grey diving suit with black armor on chest; black gloves and boots; blue trim on shoulders and inside legs
Accessories: two black gloves (04 Electric EEL's); black laser machine gun (92 Maj. Bludd's); black trident (90 Undertow's).
Filecard Information: COBRA ELECTRIC EELs are COBRA MORAY troops who have been genetically altered by COBRA venom serum to enable them to carry an electric charge like their namesakes. A jolt from one of these elite underwater specialists can knock out an unprotected G. I. JOE team member instantly. Aside from their electrical powers, ELECTRIC EEL troops have nictitating membranes to protect their eyes from murky waters and a mutated nervous system to withstand the excessive amperage involved with their "high-voltage" sabotage operations. The bio-electrical discahrge of an ELECTRIC EEL is not only used as a weapon against personnel, but is also an effective neutralizer of security systems and communications equipment, and jams radar and sonar signals. They can also provide their own light source during night operations, but luckily for the G. I. JOE team, the ELECTRIC EEL troops flash uncontrollably when they are over-stressed, making them easier to spot.
"We love the smell of burning insulation. It smells like...victory."
Versions: 1. 2004/I (VvV Wave 3) 2. 2004/II (Sting Raider) 3. 2005 (VvV Wave 6)
Variations: None.
Mold: Electric EEL (04/I, 04/II, 05)
Toy notes: Available in a 2-pack with Shipwreck.

RazorclawItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
COBRA V-Troops Infantry
Appearance: brown buzz-cut hair; black shirt with red armor on chest and shoulders; grey gloves with long, thick blades; black pants with grey belt; red boots; silver COBRA emblem on chest
Accessories: red helmet (new, soft plastic with red goggles).
Filecard Information: He doesn't remember the name he had before he went through his transformation. He answers only to RAZORCLAW. His first impulse after the procedure was to rip apart anything in front of him. He has instinctive combat skills hard-wired directly into his nervous system, and his pain tolerance level is cranked up to "10." He sees through a red haze of unrestrained anger, and a low menacing growl often escapes from between his teeth. RAZORCLAW was trained by renegade ninjas in vicious and sneaky techniques that had been outlawed by legitimate ninja clans for hundreds of years. He isn't "deployed" into an area of operations like other troops; he is simply "unleashed" to let the wild tiger DNA part of him take over to stalk and capture his prey. While proficient with high-tech weaponry, he is not solely dependent upon it. His most potent weapons are his razor-sharp claws. They are retracted and invisible until he attacks, when they spring out instantly, to be used with ruthless abandon against whatever is in his path.
Versions: 1. 2004 (VvV Wave 1) 2. 2005 (VvV Wave 6)
Variations: None.
Mold:
head—UNIQUE!
arms, waist, and legs—Razorclaw (04, 05), Razor Trooper (04)
torso—Razorclaw (04, 05), Razor Trooper (04), Jungle Viper (05/I, 05/II)

SlashItem # 56065-1Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
COBRA Ninja/MercenaryFile Name: Unknown
Appearance: grey mask with black bandana; red ninja tunic with white collar, black straps, and grey shirt underneath; black gloves with grey wrist armor; grey pants with black belt and boots; white stylized Cobra emblem on tunic skirt.
Accessories: black sheath (new, briefcase-style with handle); silver sword (new, curved blade, splits in two); black staff (04 Storm Shadow's).
Filecard Information: It is believed that SLASH is a renegade ninja who was banished from his own clan for unnamed and unspeakable crimes. He was recruited for the COBRA organization by STORM SHADOW to help form the core of a new unit of COBRA ninjas. SLASH continues to undergo intense training by STORM SHADOW, who regards his acolyte with grudging respect for his skill, but utter disdain for his character. SLASH has developed his own distinct martial arts style, which imitates the slashing action of a scythe cutting through a field of grain. SLASH has a graceful fighting form, but it is the grace of a praying mantis. Patient, cold and calculating. There is no art to his grace, because art implies humanity, and that is totally lacking in SLASH. He is not even very good at pretending to be human. He laughs at the wrong times and he takes no pleasure in anything other than perfecting his skill with weapons. COBRA sees these as positive traits.
"I am a living weapon. The sole reason for my existence is to cut and slice. I am a sword without a scabbard, and I am always thirsty."
Versions: 1. 2005 (Valor vs. Venom)
Variations: None.
Mold: UNIQUE!
Toy notes: Available in a 2-pack with .

SliceItem # 56065-2Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
COBRA Ninja
Appearance: white hood and black goggles; white shirt and pants with black armor on chest and shoulders; brown belt with red skirt; tan boots.
Accessories: red headband (04 Slice's); two black pistols (82 Snake Eyes's Uzi); silver sword (92 Nunchuk's); two brown double-edge sickles (new, with silver blades with holes).
Filecard Information: Intelligence sources indicate that COBRA SLICE came to the COBRA organization through the criminal underworld and may have had connections to various secret police forces in fallen dictatorships. He may have also been a professional wrestler at one time and certainly had enough of a martial arts background to warrant recruitment into a COBRA ninja unit headed by STORM SHADOW. although he can't quite grasp the finer points of what STORM SHADOW has to teach him, COBRA SLICE is an attentive, overly competitive pupil who makes up for his lack of surgical precision with raw strength. He is all about massive brutal power directed by evil intent. STORM SHADOW is smart enough to know that one needs a Goliath as well as a David in one's lineup. Not all tactical problems can be solved by stealth and deception. When COBRA SLICE jumps into a fight, he isn't thinking out strategy a half dozen moves ahead, he's just aiming for your head and putting all his weight behind the punch.
"Somebody's technique doesn't count for much once they step within my reach."

Snow WolfItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
COBRA V-Troops Polar Sentry
Appearance: dark grey face mask; light blue-grey coat and pants with grey straps; brown fur on gloves and boots; dark grey kneepads and boots.
Accessories: grey helmet (new, with gold goggles and dark grey face mask); two black snowshoes (new, cleated); brown cloak (new, wolf fur with head); black pistol (04 Firefly's); black sniper rifle (03 Recondo's Dragunov SVU)
Filecard Information: DR. MINDBENDER has formulated venom that can instantly change ordinary humans into SNOW WOLF troopers, to augment the COBRA forces with these feral, powerful hybridized creatures. They are screened for optimal strength, endurance, and aggression, and then subjected to a grueling and dangerous training program. These unpredictable hybrids travel in packs and bow only to the possessor of the FANG BLADE staff. They can traverse most icy terrain during blizzard-like conditions without the aid of skis, snowshoes, or ice picks. SNOW WOLF troops can cover fifty miles carrying a hundred pound pack, hit over 95% of pop-up targets on the combat range, and then swim a hundred meters in freezing water while carrying fifty pounds of ammunition. They are expected to operate in conditions in which less hardened troops would simply hunker down and wait for a break in the weather. On the downside, they despise fire and tend to get listless and complacent in warm weather.
"The enemy cannot escape. The elements cannot hide them—or stop us."
Versions: 1. 2004 (VvV Wave 3) 2. 2005 (VvV Wave 6)
Variations: None.
Mold:

Dreadnok TorchItem # Wave 6 Valor vs. Venom 2-Pack Assortment
Dreadnok
File Name: Tom Winken
POB: Botany Bay, New South Wales, Australia
Appearance: brown hair, moustache, and goatee; grey knit cap and black sunglasses; grey sleeveless vest with black grenade strap; grey gloves; blue jeans with red flame on lower left leg; black belt kneepads, and boots.
Accessories: red backpack (new, fuel tank with black nozzles and cord); silver flamethrower (new, with cord hole in back) and attaching red flame.
Filecard Information: DREADNOK TORCH loves to take apart complicated mechanical objects in the least complicated manner possible, which in his case means slicing them into scrap metal with his customized cutting torch (which can also function as a weapon). He doesn't find pleasure in wanton destruction as much as finds an adequate relief, like scratching a mosquito bite while wearing an oven mitt. He is proficient in motorcycle maintenance and small arms repair, which is probably his main saving grace in the eyes of his fellow DREADNOK members. They are happy to have him work on their own bikes and weapons as long as they can keep an eye on him in case he gets the urge to start cutting instead of repairing. The way the DREADNOK gang utilizes him in a fight is to point him in the direction of the G. I. JOE Team and make sure his flame is turned up all the way.
"That was a racing stripe? Looked to me like a line to cut along...."
Versions: 1. 1985 2. 2005 (Valor vs. Venom) 3. 2008 (Comic #30)
Variations: None.
Mold: UNIQUE!
Toy notes: Available in a 2-pack with Sgt. Bazooka. The 1985 version was simply named "Torch."

DukeItem # 55496Boxed with Desert Humvee
G. I. JOE First SergeantE-8 (Army master sergeant)SN: 234-095-GI89
File Name: 1SG Conrad S. HauserPrimary MOS: Infantry
POB: St. Louis, MOSecondary MOS: Intelligence
Appearance: short-cut yellow hair; realistic tan jacket and pants with brown desert camo spots; yellow belt and boots.
Accessories: light brown helmet (04 Rollbar's, with reddish brown spots).
Filecard Information: The calm and determined battlefield commander of the G. I. JOE Team is always out in front, leading by example, never asking a team member to do a job he wouldn't do himself. His experience and coolness under fire bolsters morale and gives the G. I. JOE Team a firm anchor to hold onto even in the worst situations. Offered a battlefield commission, he turned down the chance to be an officer because he felt it would distance himself from his troops. A hard charger, but understanding and fair, he believes in his heart that decency, honor, and freedom must always prevail over malevolence, deceit, and tyranny, no matter what the cost. He hopes to defeat the latest COBRA threat, human-animal hybrids, by building advanced combat systems that are linked closely to their human operators.

RecondoItem # 00315Carded with Desert Coyote
Jungle Warfare ExpertE-4 (Army corporal)SN: 15B-24-DM87
File Name: Corp. Daniel M. LeClairePrimary MOS: Infantry
POB: Wheaton, WISecondary MOS: Intelligence
Appearance: tan safari hat with left brim curled; reddish brown hair and moustache; tan short-sleeved shirt with silver vest; tan pants with silver belt and tan kneepads; grey gloves and boots.
Accessories: none.
Filecard Information: RECONDO was an instructor at the Jungle Warfare Training Center where all the bad-to-the-bone soldiers learn their trade. He learned his craft the hard way, waist deep in leech-infested water or hacking his way through dense triple-canopy forest while dodging enemy fire. As cruel and as unforgiving as the jungle is, RECONDO considers it his friend, especially if he can lure the enemy deep inside where they are cut off from support and help. Rumor has it that once, when RECONDO was on a recon mission in the middle of a dense jungle, he single-handedly outmaneuvered a command section of IRON GRENADIER troopers.
"If you go into the jungle prepared to fight it, you'll lose. If you make your peace with the bugs, snakes, and heat, then you've got half a chance."

Filecard Information: The ultimate creation of DR. MINDBENDER and his insidious Evilution program, VENOMOUS MAXIMUS is a fiendish hybrid developed from the recombined DNA of the most formidable V-TROOPS soldiers, who are themselves a result of DNA recombination with the deadliest creatures on the face of the planet. Empathy and compassion have been weeded right out of his consciousness and replaced with reptilian cold-bloodedness, insectile purpose, and feral savagery. Imagine a military leader who has been artificially implanted with the theories and practical applications of history's greatest strategic thinkers, and possesses the shared memories and instincts of the troops he commands, keeping them in line with warped charisma. Imagine that he is not restrained by normal human feelings. That leader is VENOMOUS MAXIMUS, and if you don't have reason to fear him now, you soon will.

POB: ClassifiedSecondary MOS: Hand-to-hand Combat Instructor
Appearance: blue-black mask with silver grilled visor; blue-black shirt, pants, gloves, and boots; grey straps and belt; green pads on shoulders.
Accessories: black sword (new, katana with long criss-cross hilt and long silver blade).
Filecard Information: Some people say that ninjas own the night. If that's the case, SNAKE EYES owns the whole twenty-four hours. Anybody who isn't a mouth-breather has a reasonable chance of sneaking up behind a sentry in the dark. SNAKE EYES can do it at high noon on a gravel path with no cover. A qualified expert with all NATO and former Warsaw Pact small arms, he is proficient in twelve martial arts systems and a master of the same ninja clan (Arashikage) that produced STORM SHADOW. His one known hobby is collecting spike-handled trench knives. At one time SNAKE EYES and the COBRA ninja STORM SHADOW were sword brothers, but circumstances forced them apart and led STORM SHADOW down the evil road to COBRA. Although others see them as bitter foes, SNAKE EYES looks at the COBRA ninja and sees only the best friend he ever had, so he dreads the day he may have to draw his sword against him in earnest.

Accessories: two brown sickles (05 Slice's, with silver blades).
Filecard Information: The elusive and shadowy BLACK DRAGON NINJA forces have been secretly brainwashed by DR. MINDBENDER to guard COBRA COMMANDER in case the ARASHIKAGE clan ninjas ever decide to take control of COBRA for themselves. But it's not that easy to fool the suspicious STORM SHADOW. He discovered the brainwash commands and used the Arashikage "Atsui Nami" deep mind control technique to overwrite the evil doctor's subliminal commands. Now the BLACK DRAGON NINJA forces outwardly act as if their allegiance is to COBRA COMMANDER, but in reality, they are loyal only to STORM SHADOW.

COBRA Ninja
Appearance: red ninja outfit with hood and black face mask; grey straps on torso and arms; black armor on wrists and ankles; grey belt; red gloves and boots.
Accessories: two black knives (new, Butterfly sword with silver blade).
Filecard Information: SHADOW STRIKE infiltrated the ARASHIKAGE clan to corrupt it from within, secretly working for COBRA COMMANDER. SHADOW STRIKE pretended to be a loyal member of the elite ninjas. He watched and waited, looking for an opportunity to betray his brothers and sisters of the sword. When he found a weakness that he could exploit, he began the slow, careful work of breaking the foundation and unity of this ancient clan. Continuing his ARASHIKAGE training under STORM SHADOW, he has become a gifted warrior with quick moves that are almost faster than the eye can see. His strength and his weakness are one and the same: he arrogantly believes he is above the notion of clan loyalty; he values individual action over team unity. This belief keeps him alive to fight another day, but undermines the ability of the COBRA ninja force to work together to defeat their common enemy.

Storm ShadowItem # 56170Boxed with Ninja Battles Playset
COBRA NinjaFile Name: Thomas M. Arashikage
Appearance: white face mask with red COBRA emblem over face; white tunic with grey stripes, red collar, and black wrist wraps; white pants with grey dragon pattern on legs; black kneepads and ankle wraps with white boots.
Accessories: white skirt (04 Storm Shadow's, plain); black backpack (04 Storm Shadow's, with silver trim); brown staff (04 Storm Shadow's); two brown hook swords (04 Storm Shadow's, with silver blades).
Filecard Information: One of the two most dangerous men on the face of the planet, STORM SHADOW was once a master of the ARASHIKAGE ninja clan. Now, he sells his arcane skills to the evil forces of COBRA in order to pursue his twisted plan for revenge against his former sword brother SNAKE EYES. Ninjas are mystic warriors, spies, master swordsmen, acrobats, conjurors, and tricksters. They can do all sorts of amazing things—or at least seem to do them, because the ninja's prime directive is embodied in a major precept of the ancient warrior sage Sun Tsu, who said, "All warfare is based on deception." This should give COBRA pause to consider the loyalty of STORM SHADOW and ponder the question, "What does he really want?"
"A sword hidden away in its scabbard does not lose its edge. The same can be said for my loyalty and honor."

Filecard Information: A tough, cigar-chomping veteran with a no-nonsense, no apologies style, COLONEL BREKHOV is the distinguished commander of the OKTOBER GUARD, a Russian counterpart to the G. I. Joe Team (although he maintains that the OKTOBER GUARD [sic] is the American counterpart to the OKTOBER GUARD). COLONEL BREKHOV has spent his entire adult life in military service. He genuinely cares about the welfare of his country and its people, and he feels that the best way he can serve them is to be the best soldier and commander possible. He is a superb strategist and is fearless in battle. His tactical mind is not above setting aside political differences to occasionally team the OKTOBER GUARD with the G. I. Joe Team to overcome the far greater threat posed by the COBRA organization.
"COLONEL BREKHOV is what some would call an 'old war-horse.' The military is all he knows, but that makes him a superb soldier."

Known for her chronically bad temper, DAINA is also the most tactically intelligent member next to COLONEL BREKHOV and often takes the role of second-in-command. Her rough edge is tempered by her coolness in the field, when patience and silence are essential to achieving a hit and completing the mission. As the only woman in the group, DAINA feels compelled to do twice as much to prove that she deserves a place in the OKTOBER GUARD, but if you ask any of the other members, they all wouldn't have anyone else beside them in the field—the highest compliment you can receive from one soldier to another.

He's highly skilled in many aspects of electronic technology and is capable of equipment repair in the field. That's no longer as simple as splicing together a couple of wires. Now you need working knowledge of computer technology, advanced circuitry, and both analog and digital electronics. FLASH always had a natural aptitude for understanding the guts of a machine. He brought his expertise to the military, and now he's happy to be where his skills are crucial to the outcome of a mission, instead of simply being the guy you call when your television won't go on or your hosue alarm won't go off.

His artillery experience and expertise helped the G. I. JOE Team win many battles. He can actually plot artillery azimuths and triangulations in his head. His love for abstract mathematics makes him somewhat of a nerd, however, no one would dare tease him. It seems he's quite sensitive about it and can lose his temper very quickly, hence his code name.

2005 Crimson Guard Six-Pack Figures

Crimson GuardItem # 05631/05633Toys 'R Us-exclusive Crimson Guard 6-Pack
COBRA Elite Trooper
Appearance: reddish brown hair; black face mask; red double-breasted jacket with gold braids and gold COBRA emblem on chest; red pants with silver stripes on sides of legs; black gloves, belt, and boots
Accessories: red helmet (03 Agent Faces'); black backpack (91 Dusty's); black carbine (02 Duke's M4); black figure stand.
Filecard Information: The CRIMSON GUARD troopers are elite shock troops of the COBRA legions. Each must hold a degree in either law or accounting as well as being in top physical condition. After rigorous trianing in COBRA combat and tactics, each "Siegie" undergoes plastic surgery (performed by the COBRA surgeon SCALPEL so that each trooper will look similar. Afterward, each is given their new asisgnment: a new life, in a new city. CRIMSON GUARD troops are too precious to be wasted on the conventional battlefield and are instead expected to become valued members of the community, to climb the political and corporate ladder into positions of importance. Forming this force is thought to be one of the first actions of COBRA COMMANDER after he formed COBRA; the "Siegie" network may have been in place already for more than 10 years. At least two, and perhaps more, prominent members of Congress (and dozens of lobbyists) are rumored to be "Siegies" in deep undercover. Watch out. That town mayor of yours might just have a red uniform hanging in his closet!

COBRA Saboteur
Appearance: black, grey, and red camouflage face mask, shirt, and pants; black straps, gloves, and belt; black boots.
Accessories: black backpack (84 Firefly's) with cover; black submachine gun (84 Firefly's MOD EEP KEDR-B); black walkie-talkie (84 Firefly's); black figure stand.
Filecard Information: FIREFLY has forgotten more about explosives and detonating devices than most so-called experts have ever known. He is also a world-class long-range rifleman and an expert in the field of close-range combat with pistol and submachine gun. FIREFLY had a high enough degree of skill in martial arts to infiltrate the same ninja clan that produced STORM SHADOW and SNAKE EYES. All of these are merely physical skills. What makes FIREFLY especially dangerous is his shrewd tactical mind combined with absolute ruthlessness. Recently captured COBRA documents indicate that FIREFLY is an active participant in their top-secret Venom program and has allowed DR. MINDBENDER to test new batches of the Venom serum on him. If true, the COBRA saboteur is now twice as deadly as he was before. "Some people regard explosive devices as instruments of political will. I just like to hear them go bang."

TomaxItem # 05631Toys 'R Us-exclusive Crimson Guard 6-Pack
CRIMSON GUARD Commander
Appearance: brown hair parted on right; metallic blue business suit with double-breasted jacket; white shirt underneath.
Accessories: black pistol (83 Maj. Bludd's rocket launcher); black submachine gun (89 Snake Eyes's); black knife (03 Over Kill's); black figure stand.
Filecard Information: After honing their skills in the Foreign Legion Paras, fighting in Bosnia, Lebanon, and Algeria, TOMAX and his twin brother XOMAT [sic!] sought out lucrative mercenary contracts around the world. In the diamond wars of Sierra Leone and Angola, they secretly siphoned millions of dollars worth of stones from warlords on both sides and then sold them back for handsome profits. They learned to profit from and control the bigger picture, the financing of battles on the field and in the boardroom. It is these skills, and the twins' ruthless tendencies, that COBRA COMMANDER needs to make his schemes materialize. The twins are extremely vain, surrounding themselves with only the finest quality trappings. Their rigorous schedule includes getting up at 4 AM every day to check the world markets and perform a 2-hour work out. As twins, they have the eerie quality of feeling whatever is happening to the other; if one is punched, the other feels the blow and staggers back.
